Mystery Shopping!

(Reading Time: Less than 3 minutes)

Mystery Shopper: A person employed by a manufacturer or retailer to pose as a shopper in order to evaluate the quality of customer service.

If you’re looking to earn a little extra cash - or if you’d like to be paid for things you already do - mystery shopping may be for you!

Mystery shopping pays for things for me like getting my car washed, eating out, and trying, visiting, and observing places I’ve never been before. You’ll either be reimbursed for any money spent, or you’ll be reimbursed and given a pay bonus, depending on the importance of the shop and how urgently the agency needs the shop done.

I use an agency called BESTMARK to perform mystery shops. There are many others, which you can register with to be able to perform a wider variety of shops, so do a bit of research to find one or multiple that you like.

Mystery shopping, in my opinion, is easy! The paperwork involved is a bit time-consuming, but that’s something I don’t mind doing because I don’t have to spend my money to get the food or merchandise I’m consuming. In my book, it’s a win-win!

Here’s how it works:

  • Sign up to be a mystery shopper (Use my shopper ID as a referral GA63212)

  • Fill out your shopper profile and shopping preferences

  • Sign up for available shops in your area (or travel for shops)

  • Do the shop (be sure to follow the directions carefully)

  • Enjoy the item(s) or food you bought

  • Fill out the survey

  • Get paid or reimbursed!

Mystery shopping can help to offset certain costs in your life, such as eating out or even traveling, and can be used as a way to help you save money by exchanging your time for compensation. I use mystery shopping as a way to lower my budget and as a way to enjoy things I may not otherwise spend the money on.

Give it a try, and let me know how it goes for you!
